Morena Salama is a post-doctoral researcher at the Institut interdisciplinaire d’anthropologie du contemporain (IIAC) at the École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS). She is one of the researchers of the Brazilian branch of Unesco Frictions Project : https://frictions.hypotheses.org/presentation
She completed her Ph.D. thesis at the University of Barcelona exploring the participative approach of the Brazilian policy for the safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. Her research was based on her work experience as an UNESCO consultant for IPHAN (Ministry of Culture, Brazil), between 2009 and 2014. Among other duties, she was in charge of evaluating and monitoring the safeguarding processes that are carried out after an intangible element is declared Brazilian National Cultural Heritage. In 2008 she completed her DEA in anthropology at the University of Barcelona, where she studied the use of development discourse in Brazilian cultural policies.
Research interests : Intangible Cultural Heritage, Safeguarding Policies, Global Governance, Participative perspective, Sustainable Development, Evaluation of Public Policies, Power and Politics.
